In the schools:
It looks like people have been checking this page lately (January ’11), so I wonder if they are looking to volunteer in the schools. The Somerville Public Schools have a wide variety of short- and long-term volunteer opportunities. You can apply to become a volunteer online at www.somerville.k12.ma.us/volunteer. If you aren’t comfortable applying online please call 617-625-6600 x6023 to request a volunteer application.
This page used to be about volunteering for my campaign:
I volunteered on a few campaigns before ever thinking I would run one. It’s fun and you can learn a lot. Sometimes you can meet new people. Here are some ways you can help. Let me know if there’s one you’d like to do. Email “christine@rafalforward4.info.” Thanks so much!
You might want to:
- Door knock
- Make phone calls to help identify supporters
- Make phone calls to remind people to vote
- Help with fundraising by contacting folks directly
- Help with event planning
- Write “Dear Friend” cards to encourage friends to vote for me
- Host a houseparty or other event where I can meet voters
- Display a yard sign
- Hang signs on doorknobs the night before election day to remind people to vote
- Watch the polls on election day
- …or float your creative idea by me…
Thanks in advance!

/ October 28, 2009Christine,
We are just wrapping up a big campaign (Oct 30) so I will now be able to make some time to volunteer as needed. Our home computer has been down so I missed any emails there.(Mea culpa for being out of sight so much).
I can make some time Sunday & Monday, as well as Tuesday morning until 1:30pm. Whatever you need–calls, doors, rides, sign holding, poll. Let me know.
Mary Jo
